Take the Pledge

Dear Business Owner,

The drastic reduction of litter abatement funds in our state has left many Indiana communities on their own. To combat this issue, as Evansville's Mayor, I am heading up the CLEAN EVANSVILLE INITIATIVE, a litter abatement program to enhance the work of Keep Evansville Beautiful and the ongoing litter programs that serve our community. We need your help to ensure its success. I am asking business owners and managers to commit to becoming active participants in the CLEAN EVANSVILLE INITIATIVE. Our objective is to create a community where all citizens can be proud to live, work and play.

Think of it this way. Your business site in Evansville represents not only your particular company, but the surrounding business district and entire Evansville business community, as well.

How can you help? On the first Saturday of each month, Evansville citizens gather together to pick up litter in our neighborhoods, local business districts, and along roadways. As Mayor, I am asking your business to take the CLEAN EVANSVILLE PLEDGE to keep your business campus and the surrounding area litter free all year. By doing so, not only will current residents take notice, but so will visitors who are thinking of making Evansville home, vacationing or just passing through. As you can imagine, having a clean Evansville will make a significant contribution to our economic development efforts, where we only may have one chance to make a good impression on others thinking of locating here.

The City of Evansville will publicly acknowledge your company's participation and commitment in future Clean Evansville Initiative press releases and events. I look forward to receiving your commitment letter and greatly appreciate your thoughtful consideration of our City's CLEAN EVANSVILLE INITIATIVE. Your help and pledge will go a long way in encouraging others to keep Evansville LITTER FREE, making ours the cleanest city in America. Together we can accomplish it.

Lloyd W. Winnecke,

Mayor, City of Evansville
